8vo (201 x 126 mm). Errata leaf at end. (Some browning, worm hole to upper margin of last ca 45 leaves not affecting text.)  Contemporary sheep gilt (old repairs to joints, some wear).

FIRST EDITION of Jussieu's fundamental work on the classification of plants, the first to arrange "plant genera in a natural system based on the correlation of a great number of characteristics...Some of the elements of Genera plantarum...remain a part of the present-day system of botanical classification" (Norman).
