Lot Description

Velvet and Lamé Jacquard Evening Coat, 1910s

The silhouette of this early 20th century cape nods to the work of Paul Poiret, a master couturier of the 1910s and 20s. Poiret was a key player in the creation of the modern fashion industry.

Black silk velvet cocoon coat with gold-tone metallic thread and black floral jacquard sleeves and bottom banded hem, rolled velvet cord for tying at neckline ended in black beaded tassels, and hook and eye closure at center front neckline.
