Lot Description

[WESTERN AMERICANA] -- [LAW ENFORCEMENT]. A group of 6 items, incl.  buttons promoting sheriffs and "City Marshal" badge. N.p., n.d.


2 1/4 in. across points, white metal badge (occasional loss of tarnish, light surface scratches). Comprised of 6-point ball star engraved "City Marshal."

[With:] 5 cello buttons, most 7 /8 in. dia., promoting various individuals for sheriff, including Thomas F. Foley, who was elected New York City sheriff in November 1907 and took office on 1 January 1908; John W. Sturr, who was elected sheriff of Passaic County, NJ in the early 1900s; J.J. Browne; G.A. Taylor; and H.A. Wolff, which is slightly larger at 1 1/4 in. dia. Together, 5 buttons, in generally good condition.
