Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. TEMPLE, C. Warren, photographer. Album containing photographs of the Holy Land. [Ca early 20th century].
20 1/2 x 13 1/2 in. suede-bound album (lacking rear cover, chipping to edges, ink stains) with 72 large (average 12" x 10") silver gelatin photographs. Taken in the early 20th century, the images were taken in the Holy Land and capture both historic sites as well as the inhabitants of the region. Several photos show the photographer with his large camera on tripod. Other subjects include shepherds, a Samaritan "High Priest" and images of his congregation, a trial, the temple of Jupiter Baalbek (Lebanon), and the Dead Sea.
