Three-quarters leather gilt. 49 photos, comprised of 48 on album pages, and one cabinet card affixed to front pastedown. Most photos approx. 3 x 5 in. (i.e. 3 1/2 x 4; 3 x 4 1/4 in.). With pins through loops in the pages and tabs at the spine so they can be interchanged. The first image, dated 1888, documents leaving Bermuda, followed by image of the Adirondacks in June 1888, beginning with Stevens House, overlooking Lake Placid. The first group focuses around the Ausable River and Chasm. Most photographs are labeled “instantaneous,” which at the time referred to images taken with less than one second exposure time, allowing for more action shots. Toward the end of June, are views on Lake Champlain and Burlington. The compiler moved to Boston for the 4th of July (12 images of this holiday). Then on to Woods Hole in August. The August group includes views of Nantucket, Sconset, and Martha’s Vineyard.
