Lot Description

A 1964 Sonny Liston vs. Cassius Clay Heavyweight Boxing Championship On Site Fight Program

Cover features portraits of Liston and Clay with text Official Souvenir Program World Heavyweight Championship, 15 Rounds, Sonny Liston vs. Cassius Clay, Miami Beach Convention Hall, Tuesday, February 25, 1964, $1, Presented By Dundee-MacDonald Enterprises, Inc.
Inside staples show appropriate aging indicative of an authentic issue. Clay would "shock the world" by winning the heavyweight title when Liston refused to answer the bell at the beginning of the seventh round. Shortly after, he would make history again by changing his name to Muhammad Ali. An important and uncommon on site artifact from the beginning of the Ali era.
