Lot Description
A Michael Jordan 1988 NBA All Star Game Chicago Large Street Banner Sign
Issued by the City of Chicago, Eugene Sawyer, acting mayor and displayed on Michigan Avenue to commemorate city's hosting of NBA All-Star Weekend at Chicago Stadium. The weekend was monumental for Jordan as he soared from the free throw line to defeat Dominique Wilkins in the Slam Dunk Contest and then led the East to a 138-133 victory over the West while capturing MVP honors. The banner features the official artwork of the All-Star Weekend with a rendering of the city skyline, stars and basketball moon. An uncommon artifact from an important time in Jordan's career.
