Lot Description
Vivienne Westwood Salon Collar Smock, Spring/Summer 1992
Vivienne Westwood debuted the Salon collection for Spring/Summer 1992, the end of the period to which she refers as “The Pagan Years.” During this time, her inspiration shifted from punk street style to parodies of the upper class, and the Salon collection included corsets featuring the works of Francois Boucher, deconstructed images of the Wallace Collection salon, and this smock inspired by 17th- and 18th-century artists’ dress.
Blue and white cotton checkered smock printed with metallic and velvet designs, oversized rolled collar, gathered shoulders, oversized bishop sleeves, and center front button closure.
