N. CURRIER, publisher -- After Frances F. Palmer
View of San Francisco, California. Taken from Telegraph Hill, April 1850, by Wm. B. McMurtrie, Draughtsman of the U. S. Surveying Expedition, 1851. (G. 6922). Large format lithograph with hand-coloring heightened in gum arabic, on wove paper, matted and framed, 623 x 878 mm sheet. 2 1/2-in. tear with small loss to lower right corner, 2 1/2-in. closed tear just crossing image left margin, a few pinholes in corners or margin, small surface abrasion to blank area near title, a few stains to margin or verso, old dealer pencil annotations recto and verso. Original Best 50 No. 25. VERY RARE: According to online records, only one example of this print has sold at auction in the last 75 years.
