Across the Continent. "Westward the Course of Empire Takes Its Way", 1868. (G. 0039). Large format lithograph with hand-coloring heightened in gum arabic, on wove paper, matted and framed, 568 x 765 mm sheet. Tiny surface abrasion to sky with small loss of color, 1-in. marginal tear left upper margin, some minor toning from old matting, a few very minor marginal surface scuffs, a few very pale marginal stains, some minor soiling verso. A BRIGHT EXAMPLE.
