Lot Description
N. CURRIER, publisher -- After Charles Parsons
High Pressure Steamboat Mayflower. Capt. Joseph Brown. First Class Packet between St. Louis and New Orleans on the Mississippi River, 1855. (G. 3052). Large format lithograph with hand-coloring heightened in gum arabic, on wove paper, matted and framed, 590 x 830 mm sheet. A few surface abrasions to sheet edge left side, a few tiny spots in image, very minor toning from matting, a few short tears upper margin, some very slight toning or spotting from old framing verso, discreet dealer pencil annotations recto and verso. VERY RARE: Only one example of this print has sold at auction in the last 60 years.
