CURRIER and IVES, publishers -- After Charles R. Parsons and Lyman W. Atwater
The New Excursion Steamer Columbia. "Gem of the Ocean", 1877. (G. 4802). Large format lithograph with hand-coloring heightened in gum arabic, on wove paper, 610 x 963 mm sheet. Backed with Japanese tissue, bottom margin trimmed just shaving title and with loss of additional text line "The Largest Steamboat...", 2-in. tear with loss to blank lower left margin repaired recto, 2 1/2-in tear left margin crossing image with some minor retouching, some very minor spotting or soiling. RARE: According to online records, only one example of this print has sold at auction in the last 90 years.
