12mo. Half-title; engraved frontispiece by Auguste Blanchard. 20th-century half blue morocco gilt, uncut.
Early edition of Maistre's work of parody written in the tradition of a grand travel narrative, and first published in 1794. Maistre wrote about his voyage "around his room" while he was imprisoned in Turin for 42 days for dueling.
