A Gold and Black Lacquer Writing Box, Suzuribako
18TH/19TH CENTURY
of standard rectangular form, the kabusebuta (cover) decorated with a warrior riding a horse, the interior fitted with a frame holding the suzuri (ink stone) and a metal double heart-form suiteki (water dropper), decorated with leaves against a nashiji ground.
Length 10 x width 8 3/4 x height 2 3/8 in., 25.6 x 22.5 x 6 cm.
