A Gold and Black Lacquer Writing Box, Suzuribako
19TH CENTURY
of standard rectangular form, the kabusebuta (cover) decorated with chrysanthemum blossoms, the interior fitted with a frame holding the suzuri (ink stone) and a green decorated suiteki (water dropper), together with the original bamboo box.
Length 10 1/8 x height 2 1/2 x width 9 in., 25.5 x 6.5 x 23 cm.
