An Embelished Huanghuali Armchair
LATE 19TH CENTURY/EARLY 20TH CENTURY

清晚期 黃花梨嵌寶圈椅
the crestrail inlaid with phoenix amongst ruyi-form clouds, ending in round  rounded terminals, the S-curved splat, featuring two enclosed panels, the upper with inlaid bone decoration showing two horses in an outdoor scene, the lower larger panel of figures in landscape, flanked by a pair of reticulated rectangular supports carved with lingzhi fungus and floral blossoms, two pairs of curved sports decorated with inlaid flowers,
the soft matted seats above a recessed waist decorated with straight, rectangular openings, further raised on a flori-form aprons and carved square sectioned legs inlaid with floral sprays, winged bats suspending chime and coins, terminating in hoof feet.
