Originally this fabric was printed 120 cm wide. Wonderful colours and quirky design. The mythical creature clasp is very Egyptianesque. Tutankhamun's tomb having being discovered in 1923 set the trend for a passion in all things Egyptian, the influence was great in the fashion world.
Description
Deauville printed by Bianchini-Ferier, the Egyptianesque top possibly of bakelite, stained a mahogany colour, carved with mythical creatures, chain mail type handle, the satinised fabric printed with sea scenes to include a whale, fishing boat, sailors in a rowing boat, three bosses on the harbour side and buildings, all in bright orange, red, purple, pink, blue and brown, lined in mid blue fine silk, 7 in; 18 cm width of top."
