Lot Description
Worth Labeled Silk Velvet and Lace Jacket, c.1905
Green silk velvet jacket with opening down the center front. The large sleeves are pulled into the elbow and finished with a wide band of cream lace, which is repeated around the neckline and down the center front to the waist. The waistline is shaped into a v at the center front and is gathered in rows to form a fitted waist. The original silk lining has been removed (and has been kept and is part of this lot) and replaced with a green satin that follows the pattern of the exterior. The Worth label was re-stitched to the center back neckline. The jacket closes down the center front with hook and eyes that extend from the neckline to the waistline.
