2 volumes, 8vo. Half-title and frontispiece portrait in each volume, 10 engraved plates, folding map. Original blue blind-stamped cloth, Mormon tabernacle in gilt on front covers, spines gilt-lettered.
FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH, after the French language first edition of the previous year, recounting Remy and Brenchley’s trip from San Francisco to Salt Lake City in 1855, where they stayed for one month. The Frenchmen "were fascinated by the Mormons, and much of this book is devoted to the new American religion" (Wagner-Camp). The folding map traces the authors' route.
