2 volumes, 4to. With 2 engraved titles, 52 engraved plates and 2 engraved vignettes in text. (Some minor occasional spotting and offsetting.) Contemporary calf (rebacked to style preserving portions of original spines and labels). Provenance: Dalton Hall Library (bookplates).
Second edition. First Edition thus, of this expansion of his earlier Synopsis of Quadrupeds (1771). The Welsh naturalist and antiquary Thomas Pennant contributed greatly “to organizing, popularizing, and promoting the study of natural history” (DSB). Nissen, ZBI 3108; ESTC T113535.
