8vo. (Blind-stamp and inscription removed on title with stains, some spotting.) Original publisher’s slate blind-stamped cloth, gilt-lettered on spine, brown coated endpapers (spine darkened, losses to spine ends, wear, joints starting, endpapers soiled).
FIRST EDITION. A large portion of the first edition of Pierre was destroyed in the 1853 fire at Harper & Brothers. BAL 13666.
