Lot Description

[CHICAGO HISTORY – ELECTIONS]. Ballot Box. Chicago Board of Election Commissioners. Ca 1932. 

Provenance: Typed letter certifying the authenticity of ballot box number 226-C. Signed by members of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, Nikki M. Zollar, Raymond L. Jagielski, and Michael J. Hamblet.  
 
The letter signed by members of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners states that “This ballot box symbolizes the electoral freedom enjoyed by past Chicago generations, and dramatizes the changes in voting procedures, from wooden ballot boxes to mechanical voting machines to the electronic punch card voting system.”


Height 17 x width 11 7/8 x depth 23 1/2 inches.
