An Assembled Set of Five Meissen Porcelain Figures of the Senses
AFTER MODELS BY J.C. SCHOENHEIT, 1860-1924After models by J.C. Schoenheit, 1860-1924
Each depicting a seated 18th century woman, 'Hearing' playing a spinet, 'Taste' eating from a table with biscuits and fruit, 'Sight' looking into a mirror on her dressing table, 'Touch' stroking a bird in its cage and 'Smell' holding a flower, each with underglaze blue crossed swords marks, incised E1, E2, E2, E3 and E4 respectively and with various impressed and painted numerals.
