A George III Carved Mahogany Slant-Front Secretary Bookcase
19th Century
in the Chinese Chippendale taste, in three parts, the crest pierce carved with rocaille and foliate scrolls, the superstructure with blind-fretwork carved glazed doors having foliate, C-scroll and S-scroll astragals opening to three shelves, the base fitted with a fall-front opening to a writing surface and a central door flanked by six pigeon holes and four drawers, further over four graduated long drawers, the whole raised on foliate carved bracket feet.
