FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO HIS BROTHER: "Mr. William Berkeley From his Affte. Friend & Brother The Author." Berkeley received his medical degree in 1793 from the Univeristy of Edinburgh; on the completion of his studies, he returned home to Virginia to practice medicine. ESTC T149138.
