2 volumes, 8vo. 16 engraved portraits. Late-19th-century half maroon crushed levant gilt, marbled boards, spines in 6 compartments with 5 wide bands gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut (some very slight rubbing to corners and hinge). Provenance: Robert Marceau (bookplates).
FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH, written by Madame Junot, wife of French general Jean-Andoche Junot, 1st Duke of Abrantés, who travelled to Lisbon during the Peninsular War. Her memoirs were originally published in 1831-1835.
