1790-1820 Embroidered Cap

Traditional French quilted cap made of off-white cotton embroidered in blue thread. The cap has two tucks on each point and is embroidered in a floral pattern at the center front and in a grid pattern on the sides. The cap is underlined with a coarse off-white linen. Sewn and embroidered entirely by hand. Inside the tucks on the side reveal a much brighter white cotton and blue thread.  Circumference: 23.5", hat height: 8.5"

Condition: 
Overall good condition. Wear consistent with age. The exterior cotton has yellowed and some of the trim around the bottom edge has worn or broken open. There is an old repair at the center back. Although there are condition issues and discoloring of the main fabric, the cap is stable enough to wear.
