Lot Description

[WWI-WWII]. Extensive collection of photographs and stereocards taken during World Wars I and II.
World War I to World War II

Extensive collection of more than 900 photographs, primarily snapshots, taken during World Wars I and II, with the majority dating from the World War II-era and taken in Europe, Japan, and Hawaii. The photos document soldiers, locals, weaponry, aircraft, aftermath of battles, casualties, landmarks, and landscapes. Many appear to have been previously removed from photo album based on the tape and album residue on versos. Most photographs measure approx. 3 1/2 x 5 in. or smaller.

Also enclosed are 2 sets of German stereocards documenting the invasion of Poland and Veteran's Day activities in Germany, each with imprint of "Raumbild-Verlag Otto Schonstein, Munchen," on verso and printed caption, accompanied by 3 pairs of Raumbild-Verlag stereoviewers.

Additional highlights include: 4 aerial photographs taken during World War I by Germany. -- 6 covers sent from the Philippine Islands. -- Multiple sheets of Japanese occupation stamps. -- 2 World War II German bonds for synthetic fuel. -- Approx. 50 German Reichspennig "1" notes.

Together, more than 900 photographs and related items dating from World Wars I and II. Condition consistent with age and use. Image condition varies, with many showing toning, occasional fading and soiling, edge and corner wear.
