Lot Description
Civil War Era Cavalry Belt Rig
Nominally 38" in length and 1.6" wide. Brown finished bridle leather with a brass buckle, one sewn-on sword hanger, two iron suspensions rings, a crude brass scabbard retention hook and a second hanger attached to the lower ring. The style of the hardware is similar to some English imported cavalry belt rigs used in the south during the Civil War. Possibly locally assembled using a variety of sources for the hardware. Sword hangers with somewhat crudely cast brass snap hook attachments. One snap hook is broken. A nice looking belt that would be perfect for a Confederate cavalry display.
