3) US Model 1855 Socket Bayonet in Pattern July of 1864 (8 Rivet) scabbard. 18" blade, 3" socket, 21" overall. Marked US on blade. Locking ring intact. Bayonet blued, possibly for Indian War service on the various .50-70 arms in sue circa 1866 to 1873, as it fits very tightly on a .58 musket and will not fully seat, suggesting it was on that was cold swaged down after the Civil War for Indian War use. Metal moderately oxidized with some pitting. Scabbard well worn.
