English Flintlock Pistol by Wogdon
.48 caliber. 9" wedge retained barrel with full-length nocksform. NSN. Browned finish, iron furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading rifled flintlock pistol with fixed notch and folding leaf rear sight, blade front sight and reproduction brass tipped wooden ramrod. Lock appears to be in original flint but could not be removed from the stock for inspection. Lock signed "Wogdon". Barrel with Tower "Private Proof" marks. Robert Wogdon was apprenticed to Edward Newton in 1748 and worked circa 1764-1802, during in 1803 at the age of 79. He was well known during the period for producing quality dueling pistols. {ANTIQUE}
