Lot Description

A 1958 Stan Musial Game Used Hillerich & Bradsby Bat PSA GU 8 - 3,000 Hit Season

The 1958 baseball season was an important one for Stan Musial.

While "The Man" was on the back end of his legendary career, he would become the eighth player, and the first National Leaguer, to reach 3,000 hits.

Offered is Musial's tool of the trade that saw significant use during the '58 campaign. This Hillerich and Bradsby model M159 displays outstanding use with a handle crack that has been secured with tape and nails.

Numerous ball marks are visible on all sides of the barrel – remnants of many likely hits that year. The model number (M159) is stamped on the knob and Musial has added his distinctive signature.

The bat has been certified GU (Game Use) 8 by PSA and the Letter of Authenticity states:

Referring to Vince Malta's book "A Complete Reference Guide Louisville Slugger Professional Player Bats", the bat displays a C-15 center brand (pg. 30) that appeared on Hillerich & Bradsby professional bats from 1920 through 1960. Additionally, the center brand has a 'notch' imperfection at 2 o'clock which appears on bats produced in 1958. Therefore, we place the bat to Musial's 1958 season.

A significant treasure from one of baseball's greatest players on the field and most decent off.
