Lot Description
An Assorted Group of Seven Tobacco or Snuff Boxes and Compacts
Mostly 18th / 19th Century
comprising a George III sterling silver snuff box, London, 1807, maker's mark indistinct, marked; two Battersea or Bilston enamel pill boxes, one in the form of a bird, the other with lid inscribed, "Oh thy Sweet Lipo/ to Print a Kiss/ Is my Dear Girl/ The Price of this" with old collection label to interior, numbered in ink, "3.3.0", late 18th century; a metal inlaid papier-mâché tobacco box; a papier-mâché tobacco box with applied print to lid titled "Les Curieuses Satisfaites"; and two guilloche and enamel decorated compacts, the lids depicting amorous scenes, the interior of lids with mirrors and each retaining powder puff and traces of powder or foundation, late 19th or 20th century.
Height 7/8 x diameter 3 3/8 inches (largest).
