小楷節錄《養一齋詩話·卷七》
絹本設色,圓光,鏡框
釋文:用前人成句入詩詞者極多,然必另有意象以點化之,不能用入排偶或直寫偶句也。如永叔長短句云:“平山欄檻倚長空,山色有無中”。此實別有意象。故坡公云:“記得醉翁語,山色有無中。”以摩詰語專歸之永叔,亦見別致。若韋蘇州“綠陰生晝寂,孤花表春餘”,而王荊公直襲“綠陰”全句,又對之曰“幽草弄秋妍”,此可云意象點化乎?葉石林猶附和之曰:“大抵荊公閱唐詩最多,其去取之間,用意尤精。”貢諛亦至矣。石林又云:“頃見晁無咎舉,黃魯直‘人家圍橘柚,秋色老梧桐’,自以為莫能及。”吾不解魯直、無咎、石林皆博雅之流,豈竟未讀李太白詩耶!太白“人煙寒橘柚,秋色老梧桐”,千古名句,兒童皆能拾誦,而魯直乃襲之,又故易二字耶?抑果由暗合耶?劉貢父云:“諷古人詩多,則往往為己得。”吾謂後人作詩,無論立志太卑,有意襲古,與讀詩太多無意合古者,均貴精心洗滌,斯免詬笑。特書此以存鑒焉。
《庚溪詩話》以宋元憲“漢皋佩冷臨江失,金谷樓危到地香”,宋景文“將飛更作回風舞,已落猶成半面妝”,為落花佳句;又謂餘襄公“金谷已空新步障,馬嵬徒見舊香囊”,不減二宋。落花詩最難高雅,宋、餘皆格之卑卑者,以此為佳,風雅安在?就中衡之,景文詩猶屬翹楚,若宋與餘琢句用事,拙滯極矣。並列而同譽之,迷塗未指,況門牆堂奧乎?
《石林詩話》頗多可采,其最誤人者,好取荊公詩句以教人,而實皆庸下。如“新秋浦漵綿綿白,薄晚林巒往往青”,“自喜田園安五柳,但嫌尸祝擾庚桑”,皆絕無深趣者。“天下蒼生待霖雨,不知龍向此中蟠”,“濃綠萬枝紅一點,動人春色不須多”,“平治險穢非無力,潤澤焦枯是有才”,石林亦以為非其至者。至晚年乃盡深婉不迫之趣,而石林所取晚年作,亦不過“含風鴨綠鱗鱗起,弄日鵝黃裊裊垂”,“名譽子真矜谷口,事功新息困壺頭”等語。“含風”二句,餘前已議之。若“谷口”、“壺頭”巧對,又豈詩家所尚哉!石林為蔡元長同時,宜誦說荊公不置耳。
款識:辛亥(1851)秋弟賈致恩書,應仲言三兄同年嫺大人雅囑,即希方家指正。
