Photographs of Comanche Subjects by Gardner and Jackson, including Chief Cheevers and his wife, and Buffalo Hump
lot of 4, includes:
three albumen photographs, approx. 6 3/8 x 4 in. or smaller, on later cardstock mounts, each uncredited but originally taken by Alexander Gardner (1821-1882) in Washington, DC, ca 1872. Includes: Comanche Chief Cheevers, or "He Goat," numbered in pencil at lower left "142." -- Two portraits of the wife of Cheevers, numbered in pencil at lower left "143" and "144." Provenance: Ex Derumaux Collection, Paris, France; Ex Walter Banko, Montreal, Quebec.
