two albumen photographs of Sicangu Lakota Chief Blackhorn, or Tahe Sapa/Hah-Sah-Pah, each approx. 6 3/8 x 4 in. on later cardstock mounts numbered in pencil at lower right "801" and "802" respectively. The prints lack a studio imprint but were originally taken by Alexander Gardner in Washington, DC, in 1872. Provenance: Galerie Varnier, Paris, France; Ex Walter Banko, Montreal, Quebec.
two albumen photographs of Oglala Lakota Chief Blue Horse, each approx. 6 1/2 x 4 in. or smaller, on later cardstock mounts numbered in pencil at lower right "311" and "312" respectively. The prints lack a studio imprint but were originally taken by Alexander Gardner in Washington, DC, in 1872.
