Second half of 19th Century
The first of flattened rectangular form, the shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, the lip flat, the convex base surrounded by a small footrim, the milk-white glass with a five-color overlay of green, rose pink, light blue, brown and yellow, carved on both sides with cranes and bats flying above a vessel of flowers with ruyi handle, and a boy standing beside a flower-filled basket, the narrow sides with elongated mask and mock rings, signed “Made by Xiaomei, (Wang Xiaomei or Wang Su, a 19th century Yangzhou painter), the footrim carved from the rose-pink overlay.
The second of similar form, the shoulders sloping to a waisted neck, with a lipped rim, flat lip, slightly convex base and protruding oval footrim, the milk-white body with an overlay in brown and pink carved in low relief to depict, three goats among plants and a three-character inscription san yang tu in seal script, elongated mask-and-rings on the narrow sides, the lip rim and footrim also carved from the overlay
Height of largest without stopper 2 1/2 in., 6.4 cm.
