A Chinese Molded and Enameled Porcelain Snuff Bottle, Jiaqing Mark and Probably of the Period
嘉慶款 粉彩凸雕赤壁賦鼻烟壺

Of flattened ovoid form, the shoulders sloping to an everted neck, the lip flat and gilt, the recessed foot surrounded by a protruding oval footrim; the bottle decorated in famille-rose enamels to depict a scene from “Ode on the Red Cliff,” showing Su Shi in a boat with two friends and two attendants, the reverse with Mi Fu writing on a rock face, an attendant nearby, a Jiaqing nian zhi mark in iron-red on the base. Two posts of the boat canopy are carved free of the ground, matching the stopper.
