Three Chinese Agate Snuff Bottles, 18th-19th Century
清中期 瑪瑙鼻烟壺三支
18th-19th Century

The first, circa 1800-1880, of tapering ovoid form, with a cylindrical neck, the stone strikingly colored with swirling splashes of rich orange, ochre and brown, suffused with moss-like patches around the base, very well hollowed and supported on a neatly-carved footrim; the second circa 1780-1850, of flattened rectangular form, the shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, the lip flat, the base encircled by a neatly carved protruding oval footrim, the highly polished caramel-colored stone undecorated and finely hollowed., the third 19th century, of rounded-rectangular form, the shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, with a flat lip and base surrounded by a shallow protruding oval footrim, the caramel-colored body undecorated and very well-hollowed, the hollowing technique giving a cloudlike appearance.
Height of largest without stopper 2 9/16 in., 6.5 cm.
