Composite US Model 1855 Harpers Ferry Rifle
American Civil War

.58 caliber. 33" barrel. NSN. Bright finish with some old applied blue, long brass nose cap, iron furniture, walnut stock with iron patchbox, entire butt spliced on diagonally at wrist. Single shot muzzleloading rifle with saber bayonet lug, Maynard's patent tape priming lock, incorrect M1861 3-leaf rear sight, M1855 rifle front sight, sling swivels and a reproduction ramrod. Harper's Ferry lock with standard markings and dated 1861. No visible barrel markings or cartouches. Butt carved with several letters. Heavily repaired and rebuilt with spliced butt stock, incorrect early brass nose cap, replaced barrel bands, incorrect rear sight, replaced reproduction bayonet lug and reproduction ramrod. {ANTIQUE}
