Massachusetts Marked US Model 1819 Hall Rifle Arsenal Altered to Percussion
American Civil War

.52 caliber. 32.5" barrel secured by three flat pinned bands. NSN. Browned and color casehardened finish, iron furniture, smooth walnut stock. Single shot breechloading percussion tilting block rifle with fixed notch rear sight, off-set Barleycorn combination front sight and socket bayonet lug, extended pistol grip triggerguard, sling swivels and original clearing and cleaning rod. Breech with partially obscured Harpers Ferry markings and dated 1832. Chamber with deep "MS" mark, indicating ownership by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. A very nice example of an arsenal converted Hall Rifle that was distributed to the State of Massachusetts under the Militia Act of 1808 during the decade leading up to the American Civil War. {ANTIQUE}
