Lock marked with a {Spread-Winged Eagle}/US forward of the cock and in three vertical lines SPRING/FIELD/1830. Lock remains in original flint. Breech plug tang dated 1830 as well and breech with usual V/P/{Eagle Head} proof marks. Counterpane with the weak script ET cartouche of Elisha Toby and a weak "3rd Class" rating cartouche. Breech also marked with the US Arsenal alphanumeric serial number system that was also used to mate bayonets, in this case S/e 43. {ANTIQUE}
