British India Pattern (aka 3rd Model) Brown Bess Musket
Napoleonic Wars
.76 caliber. 39" pinned round barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass furniture, hardwood stock. Single shot muzzleloading smoothbore musket with no sights, socket bayonet lug on top of barrel near muzzle and sling swivels. Flint lock with swan neck cock and marked with the typical {CROWN}/GR and a small {Crown-Broad Arrow} as well as TOWER in an arc at the tail. Lock appears to be in original flint and not reconverted, although the hammer (frizzen) appears to be a modern cast replacement. Breech with {Crown/GR/Broad Arrow} and {Crown/Crossed Scepters} inspection marks. Stock does not bear any of the expected British assembly, inspection or storekeepers marks. Includes a button head steel ramrod. {ANTIQUE}
