[Lincoln, Abraham] A Proclamation For a Day of Thanksgiving, Praise, and Prayer


(Massachusetts, ca. July 1863). Printed broadside, being a Proclamation by Massachusetts governor John A. Andrew, endorsing an earlier act issued by President Abraham Lincoln, calling for a day of national Thanksgiving. Approximately 27 3/4 x 19 3/4 in. (705 x 502 mm) (sight). Creasing from old folds; large loss at bottom left affecting text; scattered stains; dampstaining along bottom edge. Unexamined out of frame, 29 3/4 x 21 1/2 in. (756 x 546 mm).

Scarce Massachusetts printing of a Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln, calling for a day of national Thanksgiving to be held on August 6, 1863, in commemoration of the Union victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg.
