[Presidential] Roosevelt, Theodore. Autograph Note, signed


Washington, D.C., June 26, 1906. Single oblong card, 2 3/4 x 4 1/8 in. (70 x 105 mm). Autograph note on White House calling card, signed by President Theodore Roosevelt to Assistant Secretary of the Navy Truman H. Newberry: "Dear Newberry, Will you listen to what Mr Abbot has to say? It strikes me as important. Will you then consult one or two of the experts, & come over tomorrow to talk the matter over with me? Yours T. Roosevelt". Some ink smudged, including on Roosevelt's signature; uneven toning along edges.

Truman H. Newberry (1864-1945) served as the ninth Assistant Secretary of the Navy from 1905-08, the 39th Secretary of the Navy from 1908-09, and a United States Senator from Michigan, from 1919-22.
