Oversized sixth plate (3 x 3.5") of a handsome, smiling gent by English daguerreian pioneer Jabez Hogg (signed by monogram on verso "J H, N 10").
 
He looks directly into the camera and exudes a certain jovial familiarity. The tinted image resides in full morocco case with a signed "Beard Patentee" cutout label behind image, and an intact hinge. The daguerreotype and case are in excellent condition.
