By Philippe Behagle, after René-Antoine Houasse, Early 18th Century
woven in wool and silk, depicting the Athenian princess Orithyia being abducted by Boreas, the winged god of the North Wind, in a wooded landscape, in the foreground Orithyia’s frightened maiden companions, who had been gathering flowers, within a scrolling acanthus simulated picture frame borders, centered to the top with a crowned armorial cartouche flanked by lions.
