Lot Description

[EXONUMIA] Eight Commemorative Medallions Relating to Napoleon Bonaparte and the Egypt Campaign

comprising:
1) A silver example by Julie-Marie Jouannin (1780-1830) and Nicolas-Guy-Antoine Brenet (1773-1846), the obverse with a portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte crowned with laurels, the reverse with a triumphant procession with Egyptian motifs with a fitted case (42 mm).

2) A gilt-bronze single-sided example showing Napoleon and soldiers in front of the pyramids (62mm).

3) A silvered-metal example by Bertrand Andrieu (1761-1822), the obverse with the portrait bust of Napoleon crowned with laurels and inscribed NAPOLEON EMP. ET. ROI, the reverse decorated with the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.

4 and 5) A bronze and a silvered-metal example by Andre Galle (1764-1844) commemorating the conquest of Upper Egypt.

6 and 7) A bronze restrike and a silver medallion commemorating the conquest of Lower Egypt.

8) A bronze jetton with the obverse decorated with a portrait of Napoleon with the inscription BUONAPARTE LIBERATEUR DE L'EGYPT the reverse with a scene of Hermes with the yramids in the background and the inscription :E HEROS RENDU A SAPATRIE-1799 (36mm).
