Lot Description
[EXONUMIA] A Group of Four Commemorative Medallions of Russian Interest
comprising:
1) A gilt-metal example by C. Leberecht with a portrait bust of Catherine II on obverse, the reverse with a commemorative scene dated May 21, 1779 (cyrillic) (100 g, 65mm).
2) A bronze example by Jules-Clément Chaplain (1939-1909) with a portrait bust of Czar Nicholas II and Alexandra on obverse, the reverse with an inscription commemorating the Russian royal's visit to Paris in 1896 (141.8 g, 70mm).
3) A bronze example centered with the Romanov coat of arms surrounded by the inscription "From the Main Department of State Horse Breeding" (cyrillic), the reverse with an erased engraved inscription within laurel leafs (95.5 g, 60mm).
4) A Bronze example by Bertrand Andrieu (1761-1822) with a portrait bust of Alexander I on obverse, the reverse ith a scene commemorating his victory at the Battle of Paris in 1814.
