Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Broadside advertising photographs "Illustrating the Downfall of Treason."
8 x 10 in. printed broadside promoting "A Present for Soldiers and Their Friends" in the form of two new photographs "Illustrating the Downfall of Treason." It is unclear who sponsored the broadside, though it clearly hung outside of an establishment selling the photographs as text announces that the images are "For Sale Here" as well as at the place of business of someone named Vandersloot, located at 521 & 523 North 12th Street in Philadelphia.
The advertised scenes are entitled "Columbia Rode Safely Through the Storm," and "Treason and Loyalty." The first appears to refer to an image of a flag billowing amidst gathering clouds.
Estate of David O'Reilly, Old Bridge, New Jersey
